Autumn Has Arrived!
WOW – it surely was a hot and humid summer and that was after a rollercoaster spring. Now the kids are all back in school and there just might be a little more free time for quilting and a few classes. We certainly hope that HHQ will be able to fill some of that time and that you will be able to get a good jump on your holiday gift list.
Halloween is upon us and before we know it we will be preparing the “big bird” for Thanksgiving….. Have you come in to the shop and taken advantage of our Trick-or-Treat Sales? They are still going on through the 31st. And just think we don’t even attach any “tricks” to our sales…. Come in and enjoy 15% off all fabric with one yard minimum cuts and if you spend more than $60 after the discount you will receive a free pattern! Not good enough for your “Treats Sale”? Well how about reaching into our “Great Pumpkin” for a candy treat to keep you energized…..
November will bring us to a few special class offerings and ways to get ready for the holidays, whether as decorating projects or gift giving ideas. We will also be celebrating our annual Holiday Open House with great sales, demos, instant door prizes and of course food…. Cheese, crackers, sausage snacks, cookies and beverages (how about a little glass of wine?) Watch for the e-mail updates on the Holiday Open House in the next couple weeks, it will be a great day for all that attend…. November 19, 2011 - 10am – 4 pm
Remind your friends, if they don’t receive our Newsletter, they can sign up in the shop or on our web site. At this time we are not sending the newsletters via snail mail because of the time it takes to sort names and the cost. So if you know someone that does not have e-mail, please share your Newsletter with them. We always have extra copies in the shop to pick up.
Many of you are already enjoying the benefits of our “Frequent Shopper” cards for in-shop purchases, but for those of you who have not picked up a card, please ask for one on your next visit. Each month there is a different discount, so you can create your own sale, use it on what ever you like (except classes, clubs, machine services, sale items and Open Houses) and the card has no expiration date, so it will never run out!
We would love for you to share some photos of your projects for posting in our Gallery Area on the web site…. So get that camera out and send us a few photos! Also, watch the web site for new postings of helpful tips, hints, etc., so visit it often to check out our new categories.
Helpful Tip: when taking classes pack yourself a little snack and beverage (in a sealable container) as we all get a little thirsty and hungry when in classes. This will help you to keep focused and no tummy rumbling to distract you from sewing …… HHQ always has our candy basket filled and ready but sometimes something a little bigger might work better for you.
SEW WHAT’s NEW AT HHQ?
For those who enjoy making those handy casserole carriers that we love to put into kits, we now offer another pattern for a larger one that will work great with the larger rectangle casserole dishes. Stop in and check out the pattern and check the class listing for an upcoming class. These make great gifts.
Double Diamond techniques have been extremely popular for us and we would like to let you know that we know have two new patterns in the shop that use the ruler set. We also have the popular Veggie Runner done in winter fabrics so you can see it now in fall and winter colors…. I love both of them.
We have just received an assortment of the Bead Soup embellishment bead packs. There are some beautiful colors in the collections and they are great to use on embellishing all those holiday projects. Stop in and check out what we have in stock… they may not last long.
Gift Certificates are always a great gift idea for your quilting friends or for your family to give to you….. HHQ has gift certificates available in any denomination you could want….. great for birthdays, Mother’s Day, anniversaries, Christmas or any holiday gift giving time!
We have restocked again on the Espresso Ornament Cup Kits and have also added a few new designs, holly, ice skate, etc. Stop in and pick up a few and we will also show you how to “think out side the coffee cup”!
Clothesline is also stocked and ready for your hot pads, coasters, bags etc. for gift giving.
Don’t Forget:
HHQ would love to arrange a special meeting date for Guild Bees or sewing friends. We can do a special demo or just help you with current projects. Give me a call to arrange your special date.
1 Million Pillowcase Challenge Continues!!
Make a pillowcase – Make a difference!
We can’t do this alone! Fabric donations welcome.
Our next pillowcase sew-in is scheduled for: November 11th (Friday) from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
Hope to see you then.
(Note: we will be sending our next batch of pillowcases to Joplin for the families that have been so devastated by the tornados. I would also like to send down some quick quilts if some of you would like to assist with the sewing at our next scheduled meeting date.)
CLUBS
Is there a club or group you would like to see form? Let us know and we can arrange special time each month.
HHQ is looking at possibly starting the ever popular and beautiful projects from Hoopsisters…if you are not familiar with their projects they are beautifully embroidered blocks and the quilts are just breathtaking. Please let us know if you would be interested in this club offering and if you prefer daytime or evening/Saturday sessions. We would start the club(s) in January or February. I am anxious to bring this to our shop and look forward to the beautiful projects that can be created!
