About Us

Harvest House Quilting is owned and operated by Colleen Plucinski, with the support of her husband, John, who has assisted in selecting and carrying more bolts of fabric over the years than most could imagine.

Colleen’s love of fabric and sewing started with clothing construction, way back when, in the 8th grade. In the early 1970’s a quilt for Colleen and John’s baby daughter, Maurene, turned her interest to quilting and after many years of dabbling with self-teaching and much trial and error she was hooked.

Colleen started teaching in the mid 1980’s to friends and family. Teaching in a former chain fabric store, local quilt shops and community college adult education programs soon followed. With special requests from students, she soon found herself designing and writing patterns for classes she taught, hence, Harvest House Quilting was born...

Pattern ideas come from inspirations of all types, buildings, landscape, and sometimes a catchy name will “pop” into her head and then the design follows – whatever moves her.

Harvest House Quilting’s mission is to produce original designs with easily understandable instructions - simple instructions for simply great quilt projects. Top quality fabrics and select notions are important in any quilt project and will also be available through HHQ. Quilt samples and kit preparations are handled by two faithful friends, Carol Rubeck and Lynn Vock, with additional helping hands on occasion from the small quilt group Colleen, Carol and Lynn belong to, the Bee Hive Quilters of Plainfield, Illinois, with Becky Hale, Terri Hayes, Connie Hodson, Alice Kingsley, Judy Long, Betty Shannon, Maurene Siberz and of course, husband, John...

Many new pattern designs are in the works, with many more waiting in the wings….. so keep a watch on the web site for new offerings and special items.

Thank you for your interest in Harvest House Quilting, we wish you many happy hours of quilting and we look forward to serving you.
